The Township is dedicating this page to the Rename the Creek Campaign. This page will serve as the primary source of public documents utilized for public meeting discussions. Multiple waterways in or adjacent to Smithfield Township have the derogatory term "Sambo" in their name. The Board of Supervisors pledged their support and desire to rename Sambo Creek, Little Sambo Creek, and all other associated waterways with derogatory names in or adjacent to Smithfield Township. The Smithfield Township Board of Supervisors is committed to providing a welcoming environment for all persons, and it is past time for this offensive word to be expunged from the names of waterways. The Township is the lead organization on Renaming the "Sambo Creek" and "Little Sambo Creek" in the Township.
