Welcoming Winter to Smithfield

December News from Smithfield

Supervisors To Adopt No-Tax Increase Budget

In November, the Board of Supervisors and Finance Director Bonnie Winters presented the draft 2025 budget. The Board of Supervisors is set to adopt the budget in full on December 17th.

Because of Smithfield’s terrific staff, the tax rates will not increase for 2025. Key highlights from this year include:

  • Stabilized Fire/EMS services.

    • Provided over $500,000 in funding.

  • Secured over $368,000 in reimbursables due to Township.

  • Increased administrative support resulted in 14 enforcement notices.

  • Brought paving in-house, paving 3.5 miles.

72% of Residents Made Their Voices Heard

No matter who you voted for, you should be proud that Smithfield Township residents showed up to make their voices heard in large numbers.

As a result of the November elections, we will have several new elected officials in Pennsylvania. Our new Senator, Dave McCormick and our new Congressman, Rob Bresnahan, take office on January 3, 2025. Newly elected Attorney General Dave Sunday will take office on January 21, 2025.

We thank outgoing Senator Bob Casey and Congressman Matt Cartwright for their service and their assistance to Smithfield Township.

For constituent service inquiries, you may continue to contact the current three officeholders through the end of 2024. As soon as the newly elected officials launch their offices, our Elected Officials page will be updated with their information.

Through the help of Senator Rosemary Brown and Rep. Tarah Probst, Smithfield Township received $175,000 for the next phase of Marshalls Falls Park! We are grateful for their strong support of this project.

This next phase includes the construction of pedestrian walkways and overlook; ADA access, landscaping, project sign and other related site improvements.
