Now In Effect 👆

As a result of the Board of Supervisors Emergency Meeting earlier this month, there is a $5 per person admission fee to Minisink & Marshalls Falls Parks for all out-of-county visitors. Residents of Monroe County will continue to enjoy both parks FOR FREE.

This policy addresses the excessive trash, fire hazards, and trespassing at Minisink and Marshalls Falls Parks. Acceptable payment methods include Square (for debit/credit chip cards or tap-to-pay) and cash.

Compromise Reached In Bid to Reopen SR-611

This week, Congressman Matt Cartwright, along with State Senator Rosemary Brown and State Representative Tarah Probst, announced that the PennDOT and the National Park Service have reached a compromise when it comes to reopening Route 611 within the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.

The anticipated timeline is eight to ten weeks to completion once permits are secured. The National Park Service has committed to an expedited review process due to the temporary nature of the project. The temporary solution is the installation of a temporary, free-standing rockfall barrier. Both agencies agree this compromise will allow two-way traffic to flow while a permanent solution is finalized.

Volunteers Remove Knotweed at Minisink

Smithfield Township would like to give a huge shoutout to the Master Watershed Stewards volunteers for their generous efforts in removing invasive Japanese knotweed from Minisink Park! Our own Conservation & Recreation Director, Dr. Alex Jackson joined them earlier this month.

Not only does the removal of knotweed enhance the park’s ecology, but it also improves visibility and safety for our creekside anglers. To effectively combat this invasive plant, we’ll need to follow up with another removal session later in the fall.

Thank you, Master Watershed Stewards, for your dedication and hard work towards improving our local parks!

Stay In The Know

Often times, the first meeting folks attend is the first one (or sometimes even the last) held on a subject that concerns them. Smithfield goes through great lengths to upload pertinent documents on land development plans or ordinance/map change requests so the public can view it.

You can click below to see both pending proposals and completed projects. Each has their own dedicated page with original filings, review letters, and even hearing transcripts.
