Smithfield Township, by state statute, created the Smithfield Sewer Authority to administer the public sanitary sewer system in the Township. The Authority is comprised of five members, its Engineer and Solicitor, as well as its Assistant Secretary & Right-to-Know Officer. Members are appointed by the Board of Supervisors for a five-year term. Meetings are held at the Smithfield Township Municipal Center on the second Monday of each month at 1:00 p.m.
The Sewer Authority is currently seeking candidates to fill one vacancy. The Authority is interested in citizens that are existing Smithfield Sewer Authority customers and possess some knowledge of construction, engineering, business and/or financial background.
