    ROAD SAFETY HELP FROM THE STATE!

    As a result of the  the April 30th Planning Commission Meeting and the Township's participation in Penn DOT LTAP’s Local Safe Road Community program, the below sites were selected to recieve safety assistance.   The selected sites were generated from a discussion with members of the planning commission and an audience, which included local residents and state police representatives.  Smithfield Township staff and supervisors were also present.  The sites below will recieve equal attention, the list is NOT arranged by priority.

    The selected sites are:

    1. Fawn Road/Winding Brook Road (T507) (intersection)
    2. Reservoir Road (curves north of Brushy Mtn Road)
    3. Airport Road (T536)/Milford Road (SR 209) (intersection sight distance, considering truck traffic)
    4. Kings Pond Road (T531)/Brushy Mtn Road (T512) (intersection)
    5. Mt Nebo Road (T526) (curves between Buttermilk Falls Road and Township boundary/SR 209)
    6. Village of Shawnee:
    a. River Road (local)/Hollow Road (SR 10), intersection corner sight distance
    b. River Road (local T663)/T529, intersection corner sight distance, parked cars
    c. Hollow Road (SR10)/Church Road (T515) (intersection)
    7. River Road (T633) (from SR 10 past golf course, speed, sidewalks)
    8. Franklin Hill Road (T659) (curves)
    9. Craig’s Meadow Road (T652) (curve north of Golf Course entrance).
